它是什么
SMU students produce their own feature film or TV pilot on a biannual (new project starts every 两个 years) cycle. This is a chance to work on a 长篇 project while still in school, in a 学生 格式. It's also an opportunity to get experience on 和 be credited on professional-caliber work - 两个 of the features produced through the SFP earned distribution deals after their festival runs! It's a chance to work with professional gear on a 长篇 project 和 really get a taste of what it's like to do production as a 全职 job – instead of just shooting a day or 两个 on a weekend, this is a full-blown, 全职, 两个-week shoot, often on location.
This is NOT an “interning for faculty” or “watch 和 learn from the professionals” project – the entire production is planned 和 crewed by SMUers. 特别是, ALL crew heads (director, 生产商, cinematographer, production designer, 编辑器, 混音器, AD, 领班, 等.) are current SMU students or recent alumni.
With 芽 in alternate summers (hence "夏天 电影 Production"), if you’re at SMU for four years you’ll be around for at least 两个 芽.
Don't wait to wait for the summer to get involved? 没有问题! Despite what the name might imply, there's ALWAYS a “夏天 电影 Production” (or SFP) going on in one phase or another. 虽然 芽 happen over the summer, each SFP involves a year of prep ahead of time 和 a year of post-production afterwards s和wiching the shoot. 所以你可以 总是 find ways to get involved with the SFP - whether or not you take part in the summer shoot.

Egg Drop Soup (2023-25 SFP)
When Jamie’s oldest son Jason comes back home after college, tensions rise due to Jason’s new outlook on his immigrant family’s cultural values. Jamie struggles to hold her family together as she’s caught in the middle between her rebellious son’s Western-influenced behavior 和 her judgmental father’s adherence to traditional Chinese culture.
